BSN Pre-Nursing Steps
Welcome to your first step to applying to our Baccalaureate Nursing program here at Kent State University Salem. Step one is to apply to Kent State University and submit all official transcripts (if any) from colleges or universities previously attended. Please send your transcripts to:

TRANSFER STUDENTS are required to request all official transcripts from each college or university.
All students must first Apply Online and indicate Nursing as your desired major and Salem as your campus choice. You will be admitted to Kent State University as a Pre-Nursing major.
Admission to pre-nursing requires the completion of high school math, biology, and chemistry. In addition, students should have at least a 2.7 cumulative high school grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). No ACT is required but is accepted if the student has taken the assessment. Students with an ACT composite score of 23 or higher may be considered for the Honors program at Salem. Please ask your advisor if you qualify.
In order to apply to the Nursing Sequence, students must have minimum 2.5 GPA in the prerequisite sciences (see below) and 2.5 in your overall college GPA and have already completed or are in the process of completing: Your Advisor will help you schedule these during your first year.

- CHEM 10050, Fundamentals of Chemistry
Apply to the College of Nursing once your prerequisite sciences are complete. This occurs in February prior to the Fall semester you plan to begin your Nursing Course Sequence.
To apply you must have completed or be in the process of completing the following:
TO BEGIN THE NURSING SEQUENCE
- Biology - BSCI 20020, Structure and Function
- Biology - BSCI 20021, Microbiology
- Chemistry - CHEM 10050, Fundamentals of Chemistry
- 2.75 GPA
- 2.75 GPA College Level Math
- 30 credits completed
Once the above requirements are met, apply to the College of Nursing.
