Undergraduate Research Conference
About the Conference
At Kent Salem, research enriches the students’ classroom ex-periences, broaden their intellectual perspectives, and help them acquire skills for life after college. Participation in the conference provides them with the experience of sharing their research with others and engaging in conversations about it.
The 2012 Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) will be held the November 29, 2012. It may include oral presentations, panel discussions, poster sessions, and other presentations. Oral presentations are held in the Salem Campus Library and poster presentations in the student lounge.
- Eligibility: Undergraduates at any level and in any discipline may report on research in for-credit Kent Salem classes or in collaboration with a member of the Salem Campus faculty during the 2012 calendar year. are eligible to participate. Students in online classes are eligible if they travel to Salem to present at the conference. All students must have a faculty sponsor who supports their application to present. Research presented at previous Salem Undergraduate Research Conferences is not accepted. .
- Prizes: Students who participate receive a certificate for participating and are eligible to receive one of the prizes established to encourage excellence in student research. Prizes are awarded based on originality, significance, evidence of learning about the research and information gathering processes, and overall quality.
